We have cleared a hurdle - the medical clearance! The doctor at the new base called my husband today with a few questions. He actually did not want to approve the clearance :( He said that there are no developmental pre-K programs in Mississippi so there is no transition after our daughter turns 3 and becomes ineligible to receive EI services. He asked my husband if he really wanted this re-assignment and of course he said yes, so the doctor said he would approve the medical clearance package as long as we knew what we were getting into.
We will cross that hurdle when we get there. Right now, it's detrimental to our little family of 3 to be where we're at. We need GONE from here. Desperately. There is a wonderful developmental ped on staff at the new base and from what I understand he works really well with the families and genuinely cares about the kids, so I am sure we will figure out a plan to transition out of EI whether it be into private therapy or whatever.
I contacted the EI program in MS just to get a contact name and get acquainted and the coordinator was so helpful. He said it is likely that my daughter will not need a new evaluation and to send him the IFSP from her latest evaluation here. I need to fax him all of the paperwork and it will be on file and ready for us to get either an evaluation if it's determined one is needed or immediately start services once we get settled in. She has been receiving DT for 3 weeks now and it is AMAZING how much it has helped her, really! The little wheels in her brain are furiously turning now and they weren't 3 weeks ago. Now if we could just get actual words in English, we might get somewhere! I'm so proud of her, she is doing great.
All we're waiting on now is my DH to get his own medical clearance (he just needs a physical, which I think he got this morning) to determine if he has a normal speaking voice (he's going to teach school at the new base) and then he needs to pass his PT test - again, shouldn't be a problem. The orders should come down as soon as he passes his PT test (scheduled for next Thursday) and then we can call and get a house reserved and get set up with the movers. I am excited that things are finally looking like they're going to start quickly moving. I can't believe in just 7 weeks I will be living in MS.

Glad things seem to be moving along for you! Hope the PT test and orders come quickly.
